Took a quick detour here on our way back from Hill of Fare. Followed Sarah's route out, and came back the same way. Very pleasant and easy ride.

I approached this from the E end, and it made a very pleasant short easy run. I parked just over the bridge at Invercannie, near the first entrance to the Scottish Water sheds etc. There's plenty of space to park further on, past the private road sign, but you'll risk an encounter with Mr Angry whom night orienteers have come to know well. Head S along the road and take the first tarmac road to the R, signed to Top Hut. Follow this all the way, keeping on the tarmac where there's a track junction. You'll reach Tustach Cottage after 2-3 km, and then follow the track along the river as per Dave's route. For variety I returned by the S side of Cairnton Hill. Turn R on the first track as soon as you reach the tarmac road, and follow this along the river. It also becomes tarmac after passing a cottage and eventually brings you back to where you started. Around 40 mins total.

14/09/07 Dave H. took D+E's advice and biked over the hill from the main road. It is quite a big hill, especially on the way back. There is a good view of the river on the way down, but I was going too fast to appreciate it. On the way back I was working too hard. Once you get to the river (just by Trustach Cottage) the track is very pleasant through a beech wood. It is perfectly possible to get onto this from the east near the waterworks, though it is a bit confusing. The point itself is no more or less interesting than the rest of the track.

Someone will have to pay money to get us to divulge the route into this one (or beer is fine)

We tried from the west end and came on this sign - which we ignored. However we ended up in someone's courtyard and the only way through was via a horse paddock (with horse). In view of the sign and the current F&M problems we decided to turn back only 700 metres short.

Tried the east end but couldn't work it out.

Finally tried the forest entrance at NO636 970. Big climb followed by big descent down to Trustach Cottage where we got the road down to the river - ignored 'Private Road' sign (been our day for them) and on to the end.

On the way back Ev gets slow puncture - we've left all the kit in the car "cos its not far to this point" so she nurses the bike back up the big climb and down to the car again.
Quote of the day (Ev) "Can I go home now?"
