[89] NO 57788 88605 Peter Hill

Ran the same route as Dave, who must have been going for it on the way up. It took me 42 mins from the bridge, and I did run the whole way. There was a ferocious headwind near the top, which made me feel like I was treading water (or should that be ice - since I was struggling to keep warm). The view looks deceptively pleasant. I didn't warm up again until I was half way down the Glaspits Burn, but that didn't take long once I had the wind behind me. The path back along the S bank of the Water of Birse past [91] was new to me and is lovely running.

I did this route in reverse from Dave. It is a shame there is not a path through the heather joining up the Land Rover tracks. Maybe with all these Deeside Runners a new path will come into existence. Whole run took me 1h25min. It was raining by the time I got to the top so my photo is not as pretty as Dave's! Itis a good route and I would like to do it again.

Ran up from the river just over the bridge from the sawmill. There is a parking space for 1 car here, maybe 2 if you're careful. There are 2 paths up the hill according to the map, but the northern one is not much more than mown heather. The other one is a gravel road which you might be able to ride a bike up. Bit steep though. This is very pleasant at the bottom, but it gets a bit grim towards the top when you can see a long way on a steep, stony track with nothing to relieve the effort. The view is what you would expect - lots of heather, a close up of Mount Battock, but not as interesting as the hills to the west. Took 32 mins to run up. Went on west on the track, then cut north before it got too low, to get to the track on the west of the Glaspits Burn. There's quite a lot of heather before you get here, but it is a good track when you eventually reach it. Went on from here to point 91.

Ran up here in the evening. 33min to top, although much time was spent gawping at the amasing skyscapes!!!
