Returned to Lumphanan from [81] by the old military road. A pretty dreich day by now.

Started in Lumphanan and ran up the old military road on the way to 81. Lovely little path. Look out for northern marsh orchids.

Came down here after doing Benaquhallie (p80) from the quarry on the Tarland road. Ran over some fields, down the track for a while, up to Glenshalg then back in about 20 mins. Good views out to Mount keen and a pleasant run, though not easy to get an interesting photo.

Thought we'd sneak one in on the way to Tuesday training at Glen Tanar. Dave said it was 'somewhere' on the Military Road but we GPS'd to this gate (GPS and not an Iranian gunship in sight).
This is part of the Caulfield-built road stretching 66 miles from Fettercairn to Fochabers. It was partly on the route of an older road but was re-made around 1761
