Start point of a big day around Balmoral and before we even get our first point we have an encounter with royalty - well a soldier sent up-country with a pack-horse to bring down any stag's HRH manages to bag . Couple of army land-rovers scooting around.

This was my first point of the day. It was only 12 minutes up from the car at Easter Balmoral, but a bit of a cruel start. Nice path through the woods to head towards the Gelder Shiel [32].

This was the first of six points we managed to pick up in one day (mountain biking and walking). Pretty steep and slippery up but a good ride down to the track to Gelder Shiel. This is a little bit of Egypt in Aberdeenshire. Not pretentious or ostentatious at all. Long live the Queen.
