[95] NO 61608 94345 Tom's Cairn

15/09/07 Sarah

After Hill of Tillylair [96] and Hill of Gouach [97] I returned to the Shooting Green car park then crossed the road. There's a new footpath signed to a viewpoint over Finzean. If you follow this it takes you up through a brackeny field towards the ridge along to Tom's Cairn. The path turns left after a gate and I continued straight on up the ridge. It's lovely running apart from rapidly expanding gorse. This can be avoided if you keep L after the second little top, and then keep to the middle of the ridge thereafter. It's less than 20 mins to the top from the car park. No view today - so a bedraggled self portrait instead.

Hannah, new puppy Pip and I walked up here on a windy evening. A nice walk or a good short run at 3 miles.

No animals were injured in this picture.

This is my favourite so far - it's a grassy hill only 2 miles from the road at Corsdardar, with one of the best views in lower Deeside. The path is soft enough to make running comfortable but hard enough to bike. There are violets growing beside it and birds in the air (the song of the skylarks is lovely). A lovely place to spend a spring evening (or at least half an hour of one).
