Found just enoug time to nip out for a jog round here before it got dark. Out across the gliding strip, round the river and back along the railway.

Walked down here from the start of the new path along the railway line. Went west for 400m or so then got to a track going into the fields. Followed this then struck out across the floodplain to the point. Took the river side 'path' back, then climbed up the bank back to the car. On the way back the sun came out and lit up a row of alders. Very easy point, but none the worse for that. Much easier to find than St Machar's Cross.

Park in the layby just to the west of the picnic area and down through the gliding club - after all yesterday's "Private" signs all we had to contend with was low-flying aircraft. There's a good path most of the way in but at a fishing hut it eventually gives way to an indistinct path along the river side (still you've got the river on one side as a guide). Plan NOT to go just after heavy rains as it may mean extending the Challenge run/bike to the full triathlon.
