Came here from Pannanich. There is a track not marked on the map which joins the two marked tracks together, ie it goes from 388933 to 390929, which makes it possible to bike fairly directly here. The climb up from the track is a bit tedious though, with lots of ditches to cross. There was a bit of ice, but not much. Good views of the Cairngorms that are a bit washed out in the picture. The ride back down to the car was great, once we had struggled up the last climb. This was Kathy's 75th point so we celebrated with a cup of tea when we got home.

Parked at the bottom of the Glen Muick road and ran up the main track towards Mount Keen. The track has a nice steady angle, so no excuses for not running all the way. After bagging this point returned to the main landrover track and then headed for Pannanich.

Last time I was here it was sunny, there was snow on the Cairngorms and it felt like Switzerland. Today it was damp, cloudy and windy and felt very like Scotland. The 'cross' (actually part of the fence) looked more like a gibbet. Still, it's a tough bike ride up from Ballater, then a fun ride down to the foot of Mount Keen. This is definitely the best approach to Mt Keen, especially if you are running. The bike doesn't help a lot. Takes close to an hour to get here from the start of the glen Muick road.
