After yesterday's exertions we had a gentle walk up in the lovely winter sunshine. Started in the Pass of Ballater, went up the track to the east of Balmenach, out to the summit, then back on the path Sarah took (I think) down to Abergairn. This path is very pretty where it winds through the woods.

03/05/07 Karen . Another magical summer day. Ran from the house up to the top of the hill at Tulloch then across to Craig of Prony- down to the pass and then round the golf course home.

Made a very pleasant longish run by linking this with Morven Lodge [39]. Parked on the Lary road, then picked up a track that contours back S round the hill initially, before heading up the little valley. Took a fairly straight line from this path towards the top, through beautiful mixed birch / pine wood before coming onto the open hill, from where it was an easy climb through short cropped / burnt heather. Then continued roun the line of the ridge to pick up tracks towards Morven Lodge. The photo is looking towards Morven from the top.

Thought I should collect another point on my way home from Braemar. Parked on the Lary road at 356 985 where there is just enough room for one small car, and ran straight up the steep side of the hill, winding between juniper bushes and scree. Actually, I didn't run at all, I walked. Another good viewpoint though the best view is from a cairn part way down the hill. It would probably be better to run here from almost anywhere else. It really was quite steep the way I came. Only took 30 mins up and down though.
