Cycled up to hut from the white bridge, then followed footpath to Carn t-saigart beag. Met a Royal shooting party at the top. Cool and cloudy on way up - torrential rain on the way down.

Third stage of my trip round Lochnagar, and the best bit. From the Lochnagar coire made my way north then west, into Coire na Saobhaidhe then over the col between Lochnagar and Meall Coire na Saobhaidhe. This is rough going but there are several deer tracks that go in more or less the right direction. Running into the sun I kept seeing stags silhouetted against the sky, but too far away for a picture. From the col the going gets better for a while, and I ran south west until I could see south into the big coire above Sandy Loch. The sun was lighting up the cliffs, and an eagle took of just 500m or so away. It circled overhead until it decided I was inedible. The descent and then climb to the foot of the Stuic were pretty rough going again. The ridge starts just west of Loch nan Eun, and is a fun scramble. It is never at all difficult, but there are one or two places where I thought it might be about to get tricky. Never did though. Took about an hour from p28 to the top. The summit is barely higher than the rest of the plateau, but does have a great view north, and across to Lochnagar. I went just a short way along the cliffs and another eagle took off from the side of the Stuic, not more than 10 metres away. From here it is an easy run east, traversing round the summit of Lochnagar rather than following the path which climbs a rather uninviting 80m or so. The 'ladder' path down to the col has been rebuilt recently, and is now very easy. It is basically a stone staircase all the way down. It is amazing through the boulder field, where it really looks as if the rocks have just fallen conveniently for walkers. Below that it looks a bit over-engineered though. Back to the bike after about 2hours 30 then a blast down to the car.
